Capistrano Unified School District iCAN Labs!  CUSD is partnering with CCA (College and Career Advantage),a statewide educational support organization, to bring several new tools to innovation spaces.  

Don Juan Avila’s iCan STEAM lab is a state-of-the-art lab that officially opened in 2023. (STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math). The lab, along with other enrichment programs and supplemental classroom support, are supported by the school’s PTA, which raised over $10,000 from Jog-A-Thon, Boo Bash and other schoolwide fundraisers. 

Don Juan teachers were trained in the lab, which contains programmable robots, iPads, green screen, makerspace and 3D printers, among other technology-forward elements. Teachers can bring their students into the lab for curriculum based lessons to give them  the opportunity to have a hands-on, project based environment. The lab provides all DJAES students the opportunity to think critically and creatively, collaborate and communicate,  and integrate technology.
