Welcome Back DJAES Families!!

On behalf of the Don Juan Avila Elementary School PTA, I would like to welcome you to an amazing school year filled with new, exciting opportunities! At DJAES, we have a wonderful community of parents, teachers, and administrators working together to provide the best possible education for our children. Our students are encouraged to learn, create, and imagine, and you play a very important role in that.

As a PTA, we provide many programs for our students to enrich their education and their lives, but we can’t do this without your help.  By joining the PTA, you can make a difference! As a PTA member, you  vote on important issues to our school and your family. If you’d like to be even more involved, there are many ways to contribute to the PTA.  You may choose to volunteer for PTA committees, help during events throughout the year, support PTA fundraising efforts, which provide amazing programs for our students, and attend PTA Association Meetings - you can help make decisions that affect our children. 

The DJAES PTA supports our children in many ways, to enhance their education with programs that just would not exist without your help. These programs are funded through your membership dues, fundraising efforts, and direct donations, and we believe the students will benefit from them now, and in the future. Here are just a few examples of what PTA will provide during the 2009-2010 school year:

• Music Program – weekly classes for Kindergarten through 3rd Grade
• “Art Masters” - provides monthly seminars on historically important artists, giving the students appreciation for fine arts, and the opportunity to create their own masterpieces using new techniques.
• Field Trips for every grade
• Daytime Assemblies - include Imagination Machine, performing arts groups, safety events, and more
• Family Fun Nights - includes our fabulous annual events, “Boo Bash”, “Pajama Story-Time”, “Concert Under the Stars”, and more!
• Safety Programs including Walk-To-School Days, Red Ribbon Week, and assemblies.

Please join our PTA – just $10 per member. Parents, grandparents, and guardians are all invited to join! Please include your check in an envelope and your student can bring it to their teacher!  We need you to help us make this an incredible year for our students.

Thanks to you, Don Juan Avila Elementary students will know they have a community of parents, teachers, and administrators who believe in them, and will work hard throughout the year to support them. We look forward to making this a great year for our students...together!
