Message from the President...


Welcome Back DJAES Families!!

On behalf of the Don Juan Avila Elementary PTA, I would like to welcome you to an amazing school year! At DJAES, we have a great community of parents, teachers, and administrators working together to provide the best possible education for our children. Our students are encouraged to learn, create, imagine, and Expect Excellence!

As a PTA, we provide many programs for our students to enrich their education and their lives, but we can’t do this without you.  By joining the PTA, you can make a difference! As a member of the PTA, you have a right to vote on important issues to our school and your family. If you’d like to be even more involved, there are many ways to contribute to the PTA.  You may also choose to volunteer for PTA committees, help during events throughout the year, support PTA fundraising efforts which provide amazing programs for our students, and attend PTA Association Meetings where you can help make decisions that affect our children every day. 

The PTA at Don Juan Avila Elementary supports our children in many exciting ways, to enhance their education with programs that just would not exist without your help. These programs are funded through your membership dues, fundraising efforts, and direct donations, and we believe the students will benefit from them now, and in the future. Here are just a few examples of what PTA will provide in this school year:

  • Music Programs for Kindergarten through 3rd Grade
  • “Art Masters” provides monthly seminars on historically important artists, giving the students appreciation for fine arts, and the opportunity to create their own masterpieces with new techniques.
  • Field Trips for every grade; in the past, these trips have taken our students to the Ocean Institute, the Kellogg House, Centennial Farm, among many others.
  • Part-Time Librarian is funded to encourage the students to use and enjoy our school library
  • Daytime Assemblies include Imagination Machine, performing arts groups, safety events, and more
  • Family Fun Nights include our annual “Pajama Story-Time”, “Movies Under the Stars”, and “Boo Bash!”
  • Safety Programs including Walk-To-School Days, Red Ribbon Week, and assemblies.

Please fill out the membership envelope and join our PTA for $10 per member. Please include your check in the PTA membership envelope in your first day packet and return it to school!  We need you to make this another incredible year for the students at Don Juan Avila Elementary.  

Don Juan Avila Elementary students know they have a community of parents, teachers, and administrators who believe in them and work hard throughout the year to support them. We look forward to working with you to make this another successful year for our DJAES students!

Well here is your chance! As you know, every day 1500 children are driven to school at Don Juan Avila. Wouldn’t you like to show the parents and students at DJAES that you support our school?
